Dear Summer Sailors,

For the summer vacation,

I am very much assured that you all have made some plans for your study.

Here, I will give you only some advice and one writing and reading task!

That’s all!

I will leave all the rest for you to decide for yourself.

You will be given lots of freedom and free time to do whatever you want to, and use it well.

Our Summer Session: (Just to let you know what we will do in summer!)

I.                   Book V: Unit 1~3,

II.                Six-way Paragraphs Unit 81~100 (5 units per week),

III.             Test and Review on 60 Sentence Patterns Exercise Book.

IV.            Two topics of compositions, two simulated tests, and if possible, watching a film and compose a film review  .

Advice for your Entrance Exam Study Plan:

Exams are easy stuff! Don’t be scared by it!

All you need to do is “Find out your sore part (weak part), and fix it!”

That’s all!

Tips:

Try to take some simulated or previous tests of college entrance exams, and find out which section you are not that particularly good at, such as, vocabulary, cloze, filling in blanks, or reading comprehension.

After you have locate your problem, try to look for some materials or test books that help you to tackle with this part. Make sure you know the answer to each question you fail to get it right! This is the most important part! Or you are going to fall on the same spot, again and again.

I will also assign you one reading and writing task!

Just pick up any title (in English, of course) that you are interested in. It could be a novel, travel book, or whatsoever you are fond of reading. All you need to do is to work out a reading journal in 300 words and post it on your blog (the wordpress one) and send a mail to tell me you’ve got it done by 7/30!

If you don’t know what to choose to read, you may go to our library. There you will see a whole large shelf to choose from! Then, you may also visit some bookstore, like the Eslite Flagship Bookstore near MRT Taipei City Hall Station, or Bookman Bookstore (http://www.bookman.com.tw/), there you can also find out lots of treasure to hunt!

Can’t wait to see what treasure you dig up to share with us!!

Enjoy your summer, and Have a nice break!!

Best Wishes,

Joseph
